The role of LAN SME in the Design and Engineering group, based in Bucharest, reporting to the Head of LAN Services Engineering. This group is responsible for the Automation, Architecture and Design Standards of LAN network services. This includes data centres, campus LAN, Campus WAN and WiFi. This role will be more focused on the Data Centre design and automation
Our client is looking for an Engineering SME, who can drive our automation first agenda, drive standards for both the network LAN space and also the related automation. They has ambitious technology goals, and is transforming its entire network to automated only deployments in an SRE style model
The role involves elements of network architecture, design, coding, governance, and consultation to produce the required Designs, Standards and automation which align with business and architectural requirements
As well as a proven technical background, the ideal candidate must be able to follow industry standard development frameworks incorporating planning, design, implementation, operation, and optimization and be able to effectively participate in cross-functional meetings, clearly articulate Network Service features and capabilities, translate business requirements into technical requirements, and ultimately, into outcomes that are fit for purpose and production-level use
Key Responsibilities
The LAN SME will be responsible for the design and development/automation of our ACI datacentres. They will produce high level network standards, deployment specific designs and automations and work on automating the data centre and being involved in the automated migration of a several major data centres consisting of 100k + servers. The SME will be involved in the development of hardware, software and IaC lifecycles involving close collaboration with vendors’ technical teams. This role will include lab based certification of networking hardware and software and the development of automation in the lab for use in production environments.
Requirements
An expert in Cisco ACI design, implementation, and automation
Network Engineering level experience
Strong coding experience using Ansible at scale and able to debug code
Development experience of python for backend API development
Be able to work in and define CICD pipeline coding practices
Be able to define JSON schemas for use in IAC principles
Working in an Agile practice
Be able to use GIT or similar to manage code
Nice to have
CCIE Level
It is preferred that the candidate has an approximate 50% split between development/automation and network engineering
